Write on Minecraft signs and hanging signs of every wood type – with colours, formatting and glowing text. The preview shows the sign as in the game, and at the end you get a PNG or a ready-made command.

Settings

Text

Lines without their own colour use the dye colour – slightly darker without glow ink, just like in the game.

Placement

Needed for click commands: Minecraft only runs them on waxed signs.

Font, colours and line width follow Minecraft's rules: whatever does not fit on the sign is cut off by the game.

Commands

/setblock

Places the finished sign at the coordinates.

/give

Gives the written sign as an item. Click commands – and before 26.3 the text as well – are only kept when an operator in Creative mode places it.

/data

Replaces text, colours and wax of a sign that is already placed.

Command too long or not working? Use a command block
  1. The chat only accepts 256 characters. Longer commands are cut off when pasted and therefore fail.
  2. Get a command block (Creative mode, cheats on): /give @s command_block
  3. Choose “Above the command block” (~ ~1 ~) under Coordinates. In a command block, ~ ~ ~ means the command block itself.
  4. Place the command block, open it with a right click, paste the copied command and click “Done”.
  5. Power it with a button or lever. The sign appears right above the command block; for /data a sign must already be there.
  6. Front and back are both in the same command – one command covers both sides.
